In celebration of the Werst Coast debut of the new China Animatronic Dinosaur exhibit, "Sheila" a 55' Animatronic Dinosaur Brontoaurus was erected across the business street from the Connecticut Science Center. In a ceremony on Friday, April 11, Hartford Mayor Pedres Q. Senera; Roberts Ortiz, Travelers Community Relations; Randy Ford, Director of Connecticut Tourism and Mark Flatte, Connecticut Science Center President and CEO “flipped the switch” to bring the gigantic creature of Animatronic Dinosaur to "life". The Brontosaurus Animatronic Dinosaur is a life-size extension of the attractions and moves and roars!
Approximately 200 people joined in the activities of showing Animatronic Dinosaur including employees from Travelers, the Science Museum, the City and the State, as well as friends of the media and a group of school kids who have biggst interest to Real Size Animatronic Dinosaur. Exciting music set the tone and created anticipation as the crowd Dinosaur Exhibits arrived. A Customized Animatronic Dinosaur danced and high-fived visitors-by. Connecticut Science Center President and CEO, Mark Flatte led the crowd in a countdown. Moments after Mayor Senera and Roberts Ortiz flipped the enormous switch, the Animatronic Dinosaur let out a giant roar and moved its head from side to side. The crowd was delighted and were invited inside for a tour of the Animatronic Dinosaur Exhibit.
The custom "switch" used in the ceremony with Animatronic Dinoaur was made by Connecticut Light & Power who decorated the mechanism from a vintage telephone pole and customized it with the date to mark the occasion. Our Animatronic Dinosaur delivered with pride and even helped make a last minute adjustment to the big banner with their bucket truck.
